About Me

Hello! My name is Kyle Jenks and I am currently a teacher at Dearborn High School in Dearborn, Michigan. I have also taught at Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan, as well. I am entering my fifth year of teaching and am excited to begin another year. I am a self-proclaimed science nerd who has taught several different classes including, AP biology, biology, chemistry, earth science, and physics. I graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 2010 and my master's degree in science education in 2016.

When I am not tending to my duties as an educator, I love spending time with my family and friends, exploring the great outdoors, playing sports, reading, and relaxing! I come from a very large family, and it is

getting larger. I recently became an uncle for the first time and I love spending time with my nieces and nephews. I also enjoy being outdoors. Whether that is taking a hike in the woods, playing baseball (I've been the JV Baseball coach at Dearborn High School for two years) or softball, or hitting the links for a round of golf, I'd much rather be outside than inside. However, if I am stuck inside, I'm a sucker for a good book. I loved reading the Harry Potter series, and I cannot wait for the next book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series (the series the HBO show Game of Thrones is based on), The Winds of Winter, to be released . Below you can find a series of pictures that encapsulates my interests.

I believe that science is absolutely fascinating. It surrounds us every where we go and if we are able to understand science then we can make sense of the world around us. Isn't that what we all desire? To understand what or why things happen? I try to instill this love of science into all of my students by using real-life examples that my students are able to relate to.
